I usually plug in 16% and it gets you back to the advertised crank hp most of the time.
With this metric, it puts crank hp at 480hp.

Its a new engine so they're going to underestimate it a little like in 2011 the 5.0 was only 412hp, then 2013 they upped it to 420hp with no changes.

So assuming they underestimated it about 2% or more, that means it likely is really making 470hp. But engines actually vary off the assembly line a couple %. So 470hp + or - 2% = 460-480hp.

460 hp being the minimum any engine will make to pass the marketing / strict global advertising regulations.

But if you're on the high side of the standard deviation... maybe you get a great efficient engine at 480hp like this one tested at ?

Pretty certain the 6r80 stock cars were seeing in the range of 350-360whp for 15-17.
My stock mt82 put out 383whp, i'll guess the 2018 mt82 will be more in the ballpark of 430whp

Those are some pretty decent numbers.

It was mentioned that the efficiency had improved on the A10 over the current 6 speed auto, so some of this is probably from that, but even so, HP is higher and torque especially so

I doubt it man. Compression ratio went up, cubic displacement went up, higher rev range with direct injection.
I would not be shocked if this thing really made closer to 500 at the crank. Time will tell

We are a funny group:

2018 auto makes 380whp!

Yep Ford got us again, it's clearly overrated.

2018 auto makes 415whp!

What type of dyno?

Alttitude?

Correction factor?

Temperature?

Fuel used?

Resume of dyno operator?

Well .....

Yeah we can see a huge bump in power once its in the hands of some experienced tuners.

I would be shocked that any performance company (worth using) would not use SAE corrected numbers.

I bet this improvement will be clearly noticeable - seat of the pants feel. No dyno needed to verify that it's faster than the outgoing model. Nice job, Ford! Sounds to me like the new Coyote will be better than ever!

HP peaking at 6,600 is interesting. I thought this one was supposed to make power beyond 7K? I'm going on on a limb and saying those are uncorrected numbers during a 40° day..LOL
Per Ford's specs, HP should peak at 7,000 RPM.

Edit: Looks like the "official" specs sheet is showing the wrong compression ratio so who knows what the correct numbers are at this point.

I think a large assumption is being made here that a chassis dyno, even one set to "SAE correction", is going to perfectly reflect the actual power this car is producing for direct comparison to the engine dyno Ford used to certify the cars output. There are way too many variables with chassis dynos (for example, ever try changing your tire pressure while on one?) to make any conclusive statements about the '18's being under/over/whatever-rated. You can certainly try, but it's really just to result in an argument based on fallacy.

The only thing a chassis dyno is good for is making comparisons on that exact dyno in the exact same conditions (ideally the same day/operator, etc.).
