I removed my hood insulation and all the rubber stripping on the under side of my 2016 GT hood. I want more air in and out of the hood. Anyway, there is a big mustang horse emblem embedded in the underside of the hood? Has anyone else found this horse and is there a chrome addition that can be installed to highlight this Mustang symbol? Measures 12"x6"....

I've seen several people paint the mustang but never have seen anything chrome to do it. I guess you could try wrapping it in a chrome wrap but not sure how it would hold up with the engine heat.

Email Anchor Room and they can make a chrome vinyl for it. It is not on the website, just shoot an email.
It stands up very well to engine heat.
I had mine done in black.

I have the above decal as well. Easy to install and unless you really close it looks like paint. Love it.

Get some trim removal tools from Harbor Freight. These things are worth every penny and then some! No more busted fingers, broken clips or using screw drivers as a wedge. I used them on my MR2 race car this weekend and had the entire interior removed in like 15 minutes!

isn't the point of the insulation to protect the paint from long term heat exposure?

It's more for sound deadening than anything. You will get more paint damage from the sun over time than the engine heat.

The insulation does a good job keeping the hood from heating up.
You can noticeably tell the difference between the center of the hood vs the edge. I would leave it in.

the insulation is for fire. if the engine starts on fire it is suppose to smother it when/if it heats up and falls.

No. It's purpose is to melt the tabs and fall over the engine when there is a fire but I'm sure it helps some?

This is very true. Last year in the middle of summertime, I removed the insulation. Air intake temperatures avg. 15-18 degrees hotter in stop and go traffic with the same ambient temps. I promptly reattached the insulation.

I took mine off and noticed a marked increase in MPG, took it on a 650 mile trip and avg 24.5 mpg over 650 miles @70-80 mph. With the rubber rear trim off the hood and the insulation off there is more heat escaping and the cooler motor gets better mpg.
