Watch it come in at 445hp. :eyebulge:
Lol

It should come in at over 455 easily. The DOHC design with the DI/PI overhaul will benefit more than a pushrod design.

Wouldn't be surprised to see 470. With room to spare.

As it is, just matching the Camarillo in power won't help. The mustangs weight will ensure it's slower. So it needs more power than the Camaro. Of course increased power AND decreased weight would be most welcome.

Topnotch you get the best info. Did they increase bore or stroke?
I believe it's due to the PTWA cylinder liners. It's much thinner than the regular iron liners. So although the block remains the same size, it's as if they increased the bore.

It's a 5.04L now as opposed to 4.95L
Should go to 443hp and 407tq just from that bump.

This new coyote could very well step on the voodoo's toes lol. I personally don't care I think it's great! All it does is setup the next generation high strung engine.

Ford themselves know the NA engine is a must for a specialty vehicle just like Porsche. Ferrari also just announced the V12 will live naturally aspirated.

Ford might as well carry the torch for the V8, because they can

With the updates to the engine, they could get some serious gains out of it. Like others have mentioned, we can look at other manufacturers...even small N/A 4 cylinders that received DI got great boosts in Tq.

With that said...I'm thinking:

468Hp and 424Tq

Look up dynos for the Genesis, alot of those guys were butt hurt because the 2.0t would only make 25 less HP to the wheels. Also I do see Ford underrating the new 5.0 so they wouldn't have a bunch of butthurt GT350 owners. Imagine you just paid $60k+ Ford a car that now for less than $40k you get 95% of the performance.
95% of the straight line performance, sure. But there's a lot more to the GT350 than that HP figure.

Either way, I tend to agree. They'll either underrate it slightly or tune it such that it doesn't step on the GT350's toes too much. I don't see anything over 470 happening.

If by some chance it DOES have more than 470, I think that would all but confirm that the GT350's days are numbered. 2019 would probably be the last year... Unless they tuned it up for 2020, I guess.

Keep in mind that they really highlighted more *torque*..which the Coyote really needs.

It's better to have 455 HP and 425 TQ (just a spitball guess) than to have 475 HP but only 410 TQ.
You can make more torque with gears.

The camaro is underrated at 455 as well, dynos at 431.

I'm hoping for 475 but with the easter eggs shown, 4th gear 55mph and 7th gear 55mph, I'm going to say 455 underrated with super flat curve that goes for ever on the GT and 755 for the hellcat killer, again with a flat curve that starts low rpm's and stays flat to 8250rpm. My prediction of the 755hp car is one that puts down a lot of torque from 3000 to 8250 with more area under the curve than has ever been seen on a sub 100k street car.

Dood 431 is on the high end for SS's. Some dyno below 400 some around 400 and very few 430. Just look at the trap speed, the Camaro beats the Mustang by 3-4mph with the weight difference that seems about a 30HP difference.
I know if depends on the dyno but from everything I've read, they are a little underrated and it makes since with it being so close to the vette.

Regardless, 20hp more, 30hp more, 50hp more, it doesn't matter. It has more power, weighs less, and has wider tires for more grip. It set the bar high and if the new stang doesn't have 475 or more, I don't think it can beat the ss in a straight line or in the curves.

... Isn't it the exact same engine as the Vette? Not even tuned differently or anything? So why would it be underrated in the Camaro and properly rated in the Vette?

Although speaking of the Vette, I wonder if the fact that they have the same engine is actually a counter argument for Ford trying to keep the GT power significantly under the GT350.

As far as I know, the Camaro power hasn't cannibalized Corvette sales.
