Yes folks, the 2015 Mustang’s triple LED daytime running lamps are officially called gills. The design is an intentional nod to the original Mustang which also had gills positioned between the side of its grille and headlights. Ford design director Moray Callum made mention of this modern take on the gills in this video while J. Mays similarly described the 6th generation Mustang as having a “shark nose” complemented appropriately by DRL gills.

In case you missed this impressive bit of news from last week: the 2015 Ford Mustang’s performance was benchmarked against the venerable BMW M3 and Porsche 911 during its development, rather than the usual Camaro.
Because the Mustang will be sold in Europe for the first time, engineers looked for “world-class” handling. In other words, they wanted to build an American car that Europeans would be used to.

Love what you’ve seen with the 2015 Mustang and can’t wait to get one in your garage? Looks like the earliest date possible for that will be in August 2014, according to dealer reports.
Dealers are beginning to provide some important dates. Per THIS INFO posted on our forums, if this info is to be believed, 2015 Mustang order bank could open by April, production begins July 14th and deliveries begin August 11.
