Shelby GT350 Service Bulletin

Last week, Ford Motor Company issued a technical service bulletin for the 2015-2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang.

The TSB 16-0085 notes that some 2015 and 2016 GT350 Mustangs built on or before February 26, 2016 may exhibit an intermittent check engine light (MIL) along with DTCs P0720 and P0722.

The DTC P0720 code relates to a faulty or malfunctioning speed sensor and is detected when the Transmission Control Module (TCM) does not receive the proper voltage signal from the sensor. Other symptoms besides the MIL could be an improper speedometer reading and possible shifting problems.

The related DTC P0722 code is detected when the speed sensor fails to provide any signal to the TCM upon initial movement of the GT350 which could result in the same speedometer or shifting problems.

Unfortunately it wont be an easy fix if you are experiencing the above DTCs, as your GT350’s TR-3160 transmission will have to be replaced. Ford notes the operation should take about 4.5 hours but you should expect that more time may be needed for parts to be ordered and arrive at the service center.
