Mishimoto’s Mustang GT Aluminum Radiator R&D

Mishimoto has been hard at work developing a new aluminum radiator to replace that of the stock S550 Mustang GT.

The goal from the start was to build a larger and more effective radiator than the stock radiators found in both the base and performance pack 2015+ Mustang GT.

The first step was to examine the stock radiator inside and out to look for areas for improvement. Ford has provided a great foundation for the average Mustang GT owner with an OEM base radiator that boasts a 25mm core and the performance package radiator which has a 36mm core, but Mishimoto found room to improve upon their work.

Helped by the fact that Mishimoto created its own 3D model to prototype for accurate fitment and more precise measurements, the company was able to make quick refinements in design and in a few short weeks created their first functional prototype.

The prototype features fully-welded aluminum end tanks for added durability as well as a large core for ultimate cooling capacity.

The Mishimoto aluminum S550 Mustang GT radiator is a hefty unit which promises big cooling capabilities with an increased core of 52mm with reportedly no clearance issues.

With the radiator fitted comfortably in Mishimoto’s 2015 Mustang GT, the next step over the coming weeks will be to put the new design properly through its paces.

Stay tuned for Mishimoto’s upcoming Mustang GT Aluminum Radiator testing and results in the forums.
