EcoBoost ΔCore Front Mount Intercooler

The Mustang EcoBoost has seen some incredible accomplishments in the short few years it has been in the hands of enthusiasts and industry players.

From big power gains to record-breaking passes at the drag strip, those looking to modify their Mustangs have taken to the factory turbo option in large numbers, making for a thriving aftermarket that has produced some great products.

One of the latest to help raise the platform to the next level is from Custom Performance Engineering who have recently announced the release of their new ΔCore Front Mount Intercooler for the S550 Mustang EcoBoost.

After cp-e determined the maximum size core that could fit the vehicle without major modifications, it settled on the bar and plate design to help ensure a high level of efficiency for its FMIC.

With hours of design and computer flow diagrams invested into their EcoBoost FMIC endtanks, cp-e has developed a design that not only requires no cutting, drilling or permanent modification to the vehicle while enclosing the monstrous core, but also virtually eliminates turbulence within them.

“When creating an intercooler, the goal is to maximize size, while not increasing pressure drop. Larger cores almost always exhibit some form of pressure drop, due to the massive turbulence in a large core. cp-e™ has engineered a way around this by adding our carefully calculated turbulence reduction fins to smooth out the airflow from the end tanks to the main core,” the company said.
