After being teased on the forum for days, the 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H has just been officially announced. Ford Motor Company, Shelby American and Hertz collaborated to unveil a special 50th Anniversary Edition of the famed Hertz “Rent-A-Racer” program dating back to the 1960s.

As with previous editions, the 2016 Ford Shelby GT-H will be based off of the current (2016) Mustang GT with Ford Performance Parts upgrades including FP handling pack, cat back exhaust with chrome tips, and FP staggered wheel kit.

The exterior of the GT-H combines the best of Shelby American parts including carbon fiber front splitter, polycarbonate hood with hood vents, upper and lower grilles, rocker panels with carbon fiber accent plates, rear spoiler and the traditional gold striping.

“Our goal was to give everyone a chance to add some fun to their travel with a distinctive American pony car,” said Doug WhiteFord Performance Parts manager. “So Ford Performance and Shelby American sharpened the handling, improved the performance, sweetened the exhaust note and added distinctive Hertz styling to the Mustang. Anyone who rents a limited edition Ford Shelby GT-H will enjoy a very special driving experience.”

These limited vehicles can be rented exclusively through Hertz’s Adrenaline Collection at select airport locations in the United States.
