How Will The 2015 Mustang Fare Overseas?

Ford Motor Co is preparing to officially launch the 2015 Mustang overseas for the first time on December 5, 2013, hoping that the iconic pony car will help the company to meet its mid-decade margin goals and attract new customers, according to Ford’s President of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs.

No doubt Ford’s push to sell the Mustang outside the U.S. comes with significant risks, both financially and to its brand image.  The company must face the difficult balance of staying true to the traditional formula that the Mustang faithful have come to love and expect while reinvigorating the car with fresh design that will grab new customers in different markets.  Is this a worthy gamble for Ford’s longest running vehicle in production?

According to a doomsayer article published by Autonews, it is not. In fact, the article goes on to say that the 6th Generation Mustang will be a major failure overseas for many reasons. Do you agree, or think that the S550 can help the Mustang become a true global icon?
