EcoBoost Mustang Draws Sales and Younger Buyers

With the introduction of the new 2.3L four-cylinder EcoBoost engine in the S550 Mustang, many questioned whether Ford would be able to attract new buyers while capturing the hearts (and pockets) of the Mustang faithful.

The answer, if it needs to be reiterated, is a resounding yes.  Ford has just released sales stats that show the new EcoBoost Mustang is a huge sales success, particularly in Southern California where it stays on dealer lots for an average of only 16 days.

Not only are they selling quickly, but 56% of new EcoBoost Mustang sales in SoCal are coming from a different car manufacturer than Ford.  These aren’t just novices to Ford, many of these are younger drivers — with buyers ages 16 to 35 years old accounting for 47% of market share for the 2015 Mustang.  This compares to only 30% of this same age group for the 2014 Mustang.

All of this has helped the new S550 Mustang reclaim the title of best-selling sports car in the U.S., a distinction it has not held since 2009.
