Ford Talks GT350 Mustang, Voodoo Engine and Ford Performance on Autoline After Hours

The always interesting Autoline After Hours show recently hosted Jamie Allison of Ford Racing and Dave Pericak, Director of Ford Performance to talk about the new Shelby GT350 Mustang and all things Ford Performance.

Of course, any discussion about Ford’s robust new performance vehicle lineup would be remiss without questions about the new Shelby GT350 and GT350R Mustang.  To this end, Pericak and Allison were expectedly restrained when one caller asked about the horsepower and torque ratings of the new 5.2L flat plane crank V8 engine.

Pericak remarked:

“We’re probably a couple months away from sharing that information. We are going through the final certification stages and we’re probably 2 to 3 months away from sharing that information with everybody.”

“I am very excited to share it and I know that everyone will be happy about that.  As far as a crate version of that engine, it’s not currently in the plans, but we’ll have to stay tuned on that.”

The Ford Performance chief was also coy when asked about a possible supercharged version of the new Shelby, responding:

“I am not familiar with what that plan would be [smiles].”

Although Ford will not be tipping their hand quite yet, it is clear that Dave Pericak and team are very excited about the release of the GT350 Mustang:
“The exhaust note is absolutely amazing.  You will never get sick of hearing the exhaust note on that.  We were just at the track the other day and every time one of us would come down and hit the back straight, everybody would just smile.  It didn’t stop all day.  It’s really a fantastic engine.
“The 350 and 350R are really fantastic products and I just can’t wait to get it out in people’s hands.”
