Yes folks, the 2015 Mustang’s triple LED daytime running lamps are officially called gills. The design is an intentional nod to the original Mustang which also had gills positioned between the side of its grille and headlights. Ford design director Moray Callum made mention of this modern take on the gills in this video while J. Mays similarly described the 6th generation Mustang as having a “shark nose” complemented appropriately by DRL gills.
